Mapúa Pep Rally 2024: Igniting School Spirit for NCAA Season 100

The energy was palpable at Mapúa University's Pep Rally 2024, as the community came together to celebrate sportsmanship, camaraderie, and school spirit ahead of the highly anticipated Natonal Collegiate Atheletic Association (NCAA) Season 100. Held at the university gym, this annual event served as a powerful reminder of the unity and resilience that define the Cardinal spirit.


With cheers echoing through the venue, the event kicked off with the Mapúa Drum Corps, led by Team Captain Nelriq Asejo, whose thunderous beats set the tone for an exhilarating morning. Their rhythmic performances amplified the excitement in the crowd, stirring a deep sense of pride among students, athletes, and alumni.


Basketball Seniors: Leading the Charge


The Mapúa Men's Basketball Team, known as the Mapúa Cardinals, is a force to be reckoned with in the NCAA, carrying a legacy of excellence, discipline, and fierce competitiveness. Under the leadership of Team Captain Clint Escamis, the team is gearing up for the centennial season of the NCAA with a renewed sense of purpose and determination. Known for their fast-paced, high-energy playstyle, the Cardinals are a dynamic group of athletes who embody both skill and sportsmanship. With a well-rounded roster and a relentless drive to win, the Mapúa Cardinals are poised to make a significant impact this season, aiming to bring home the championship and uphold the rich basketball tradition of Mapúa University. 


Athletic Leaders from Across Sports


Beyond basketball, Mapúa's diverse roster of athletic teams proudly represented the university at the Pep Rally, each team pledging their commitment to bring honor to the school. The Mapua Cheerping Cardinals, led by Mike Gerald Ocay, are primed to rally the crowds, energizing the players and fans alike with their acrobatics and cheers. In Badminton, Team Captain Randell Tallorin looks to lead his team to greater heights, having honed their skills through rigorous training and strategy development. Sean Chancey Salvador, captain of the Juniors Basketball Team, carries the hopes of the younger generation of Mapuan athletes. The Chess Team, under the steady leadership of John Paolo Medina, continues to sharpen their mental acumen, making strategic plays both on the board and in life. Football captain Mark Cabilangan ought to show that the games are won not just by physical strength but by tactical brilliance and teamwork. In the world of volleyball, Barbie San Andres will spearhead the Seniors Men’s Volleyball Team, while the Juniors Team, co-captained by Daniel Yatco and Paul Alforque, prepares to dominate with their youthful energy and teamwork. On the women’s side, Team Captain Therese Manalo will lead the charge for the Women’s Volleyball Team, inspiring her squad to reach new heights in the NCAA.


Rising Stars in Other Arenas


The Swimming Team is poised for a strong season under the leadership of captains Denielle Mandanas and Joseph Villamater, as they aim to break records and swim their way to victory. June Martinez, captain of the Track and Field Team, embodies speed, strength, and endurance, leading a team that is set to leave its mark on the track.


For the Table Tennis Team, RJ Tallorin is guiding his squad with a keen eye on precision and agility, while Joshua Diva, captain of the Lawn Tennis Team, aims to bring finesse and flair to the courts this season.


Beyond the Games: A Legacy of Excellence


As the 2024 Pep Rally drew to a close, the message was clear: Mapua University is more than a school; it is a family bound by sportsmanship, camaraderie, and pride. This event serves as a reminder of the university’s commitment to fostering not just athletic excellence but also the values of teamwork, respect, and discipline.


The upcoming NCAA Season 100 will not only test the skills of these athletes but also serve as a stage for them to showcase their Mapuan spirit. With their captains leading the way, each team is prepared to give their all—not just for victory but for the glory of Mapua University.
