NCAA: The Cardinals dazed the Red Lions for a clean slate, 2-0



The Mapúa Cardinals secured their second win after shutting down the San Beda Red Lions, 75-57, last Friday, September 29, at the Filoil Flying V Center. This led to San Beda’s first defeat of the season after their win against the Arellano University Chiefs, 85-61.


Paolo Hernandez paved the way for the Mapúa Cardinals with 17 points. Clint Escamis and Warren Bonifacio also pushed the Cardinals to victory, with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Alex Visser led the way for the San Beda Red Lions with 10 points and Jacob Cortez with nine.


With a 12-point lead, the Cardinals staged a 60-44 advantage in the third quarter after Marc Cuenco and JC Recto shot their treys.


After the victory, the Cardinals joined the Lyceum of the Philippines (LPU) Pirates at the standings' summit, each team with 2-0, while San Beda is down to 1-1.


The Mapúa Cardinals aim for their third win as they take on the Jose Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers on Sunday, October 1, at the Filoil Flying V Arena; the San Beda Red Lions will then face The College of Saint Benilde Blazers.
